It’s Official!

I’m now the proud new headmistress of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School’s Asheville branch! I’m very excited to be bringing Dr. Sketchy’s back to Asheville and hope to make it a great success.

Many thanks to all the wonderful sponsors (Arts 2 People, Liquid Dragon Tattoo) contributing to this venture and especially to my co-producer, Kitty Love, for helping me make it happen. I appreciate all the support.

Now, let’s get started! Our first session will be Thursday, March 1st at Eleven on Grove and will feature internationally published alternative model and burlesque vixen, Porcelain! This brunette bombshell has been featured in several publications including books by famed pinup photographer Viva Van Story and magazines such as Bella Morte and Auxiliary. She can also be seen bringing her sultry brand of burlesque to various variety shows throughout the southeast. Don’t miss your chance to get up close and intimate with this sexy superstar of the alternative modeling scene!

I’ve got some great prizes lined up for the contests! You don’t want to miss it!

Asheville In Charleston…

Just got back from a lovely weekend in Charleston, SC with some lovely Asheville friends. Much to share from this adventure…

With an invite from the lovely Evelyn DeVere to perform at Carnivalesque’s Carnival Revival, Sneaky McFly, Lucille Castille, and yours truly, along with Morgana La Fatale, set off Friday night for Charleston. We rolled into town and met up with our gracious hostess, Olivia – an absolutely gorgeous creature from the Seychelles, for drinks and chatter. So many pretty people, zomg. I’ve decided Charleston is the place where clean cut people are produced. Seriously.

After a good sleep at Olivia’s fantastic house, we ventured out Saturday for some brunch and to get in a little beach time before the show. Good food and Folly ftw! Us Ashe’villains’ trekked to Folly beach while our Charleston companions decided to nap. I did my best to remember my little video camera – Folly was one of the times I did – but when one is having a good time, one forgets sometimes to document the good time.

Olivia’s house…

Once we’d had our fill of the sand, it was back to Olivia’s to gussy up for the show. I wish I’d remembered my camera at the show, but you all know how that goes for me. There are some great photos, though. Lookie…

Lookie! It’s Misha! She was in Charleston, too, and came out to the show to enhance the Asheville flavor… And worked out some tension in my shoulders, too, OMG… :)

Morgana and Sneaky!

Lucille and Misha!

Check it out! Tiger RoxXx and Brandy Valentine were there, as well!

On stage… (photo by Dee Dee Arthur)

Here’s a great article about the show by Dee Dee Arthur for the Charleston City Paper featuring some photos of the Carnivalesque gang and Deanna Danger (woot!).

I don’t about everyone else, but I had a great time at this show. Fantastic performers happened, cute boys and curvy women happened, and best good friends happened. A show night doesn’t get much better than that…

Since we after-partied into the wee hours the night before, it was decided a sleep-in and brunch would do for a good start to Sunday. We had brunch at a schwank establishment called Leaf and then sent Sneaky off to catch one of Deanna’s workshops while Lucille, Morgana, Olivia, and I strolled around downtown. Shopping, coffee, and one parade later, it was time to make our way back to Olivia’s to meet up with Sneaky and pack up for home.

Here’s a short video of a some of the trip (when I remembered the camera!)…

To say this weekend getaway was much needed would be an understatement. I hadn’t really known how much I’d missed Charleston until I was smelling the air and marveling at the beautiful architecture of old southern houses and sharing this adventure with like-minded performer friends was just what I needed. I can honestly say I really enjoyed the company I kept this weekend. Thank you, lovelies… :)

Five Days – Part 2…

Day Three…

Fake eyelashes at 8 AM? There ought to be a law against it! Oh, the things one will do to support good people and promote great events.
This past Saturday morning, the Duchess and I made up are faces and donned our costumes for the Asheville Holiday Parade. Along with a whole host of other cosplayers, we marched in support of next year’s Fanaticon convention and I have to say that it was a blast! There is nothing more gratifying than seeing excited little kids react with amazement to Spiderman or Wonder Woman or Darth Maul. And we have some really awesome tiny people in this town… :)

Here’s a link to the Asheville Citizen-Times article about the parade, complete with video highlights, and here’s another link to the Mountain Xpress’s video highlights. Fun times!

Later that same day… As soon as the parade was over, I scurried back to the castle and readied myself for a night at Atmosphere down in Augusta, Ga. I absolutely adore the Augusta scene; friendly, supportive, awesome. I ALWAYS enjoy my time in this town… :)

Day four…

The very next day, I was invited to perform with the Coney Island Rock and Roll Show; a traveling variety show filled with bands, burlesque, and sideshow acts. I joined the incredibly lovely and talented Cherry Von Bomb at Asheville’s The Get Down, along with bands Skye Paige, The Transylvania Transport Company, and Southbound Turnaround and sideshow stunts by Mister Hamilton, Cut Throat & The Invisible Man Corporation Sideshow. So. Much. Fun. The performers and bands were great! And the whole vibe at the Get Down was just spectacular. Many thanks to Mickey for making us feel so welcomed. Oh, and let me just say how much I heart all my best good friends who were there and how much I love it when you all sing karaoke… :)

I haven’t seen any photos from the show and I, of course, never remember my camera anymore. So no cute boys and curvy women shots for you! Maybe next time…
